Her mission aligns with our efforts in using only organic products and being conscious of what we put in or on our bodies. We interviewed her and asked her to share how she lives a healthy, organic lifestyle! Check it out below!
What got you into living an organic life?
My journey to cleaner, organic living really began with the pregnancy of my son a little over four years ago. As a first time mom, I felt the need to research more than ever what was going INTO and ONTO my body. With that came a lot of eye opening information that prompted me to make some serious changes in my lifestyle.
Why do you think it’s so important?
First and foremost I want to set the example for my son to live as healthy and consciously as possible. My parents are both amazing people but I certainly didn’t grow up the healthiest – not because they didn’t want me to but simply because they didn’t know better. By committing to an organic lifestyle we’re laying down a vital foundation for our kid early on and breaking that cycle. Another important reason is that I like to a lead a preventative lifestyle as a opposed to one of reaction. A lot of diseases and conditions can actually be avoided when you make better choices in your diet and lifestyle.
Do you find it harder living organically?
Not at all. Like anything else it requires dedication and commitment but when you’re passionate about something you gladly make it happen. For example, whenever we get invited to kid parties for our son and we know there won’t be organic things for him to eat, we always plan ahead and bring him his own treats or food. I know another huge misconception about organic living is that you’ll go broke doing it but this isn’t true. So many places offer affordable and available organic options now so it’s really just a matter of how you prioritize your money. My advice for anyone looking to move towards organic living is to start with what you can. For food, focus on the dirty dozen rule (produce exposed to the most pesticides) and for products, start by switching out what you use daily (foundation, toothpaste etc.). Do what you can and don’t overwhelm yourself.
Do you travel a lot? Do you see organic foods in the places you travel?
We definitely enjoy traveling in our family and are blessed to do it pretty frequently. Prior to travels, we always do tons of research on the city or country we’re visiting so we almost always know ahead of time what to expect in terms of organic food options. With that being said, we’re living in an amazing time where the demand for organic foods/products is becoming greater everyday so it’s never been too hard to find options when traveling thankfully.
What are some of your hobbies you do in your spare time?
When I’m not blogging I’m actually a freelance artist here in Orlando, FL. A lot of my spare time goes into creating art and most recently jewelry making too. In addition to this, my family and I also really enjoy traveling as I mentioned and exploring nature. Florida has some really beautiful springs that aren’t too far away from us so you can usually catch us there if we aren’t booking an adventure somewhere.
What does your typical day look like?
I’m a mother to an almost 4 year old son who is home schooled so these days my life is all about balance. Our weekdays typically begin with a nice organic plant based breakfast – usually a smoothie, yogurt bowl or oatmeal – followed up with some light stretching and movement. I homeschool my son for 2 1/2 hours, make lunch and then work on my blog / content creation or art. We have a pretty good rhythm down now so he knows when it’s mommy’s time to work and his time to play. It can be difficult sometimes because I’m one of those people who can become fixated on a project until it’s completed but you have to learn to shut that off when working from home. My son still needs to be a kid who plays outside and has my attention so it’s the ultimate lesson of balance. The weekends are dedicated to family, soccer practice and fun activities with my husband and kid.
